It is with considerable relief that Atomic Fez announces it shall be publishing The Beautiful Red, the fine collection of excellent writing by Mr. James Cooper.
Following discussions over the past twenty-four hours, Mr. Cooper’s collection has been once again included in Atomic Fez’s list of offerings to be released in March of next year. All orders received for copies will be honoured as originally placed, and shall be fulfilled around the time of the title’s release in very late March of next year.
The title will, no doubt, find many fine reviews, as well as at least recognition with nominations for awards, given the quality of the work it contains, as well as due to the magnificent wrap-around cover-art for the paperback by Mr. David Gentry [front, right]. The collection also contains a foreword by the award-wining master of urban horror Mr. Christopher Fowler, who states therein:
It’s been quite a while since I’ve encountered stories like this, tales that ignore topical tastes in favour of a strange view of humanity that’s timeless, classical, and mysteriously sad.
–Christopher Fowler
Those who wish to sample some of Mr Cooper’s work, as well as see other art by Mr. Gentry, would be well-advised to purchase copies of the magazine Black Static, with special attention to seek out the novella-length “Eight Small Men” which will first appear in the February/March 2010 issue of Black Static [Issue №15], and also be included in the pages of The Beautiful Red.
Those individuals who seek the better supply of information in the world of horror writing can do no wrong by reading Black Static, which is published by TTA Press. While you’re on their site, have a look at their other magazine Interzone, which concerns the SF side of fiction. Those living in the UK can find copies of both at better newsagents, or request them. The best way to ensure reading them is to subscribe, no matter where you live. Having had the pleasure of reading two copies of both bi-monthlies, be assured that both the graphic design and written content is of superior quality and worth the cost.
Again, Atomic Fez is over-joyed by this turn of events, and apologizes for any confusion which the past few days saw. We wish Mr. Cooper much continued and well-deserved success with his writing, and are proud to be a part of its being made available to a discerning public at reasonable prices.
